The City of Birmingham

Are you looking for exciting adventures and activities to explore with your family this winter?

This guide explores some of the best possibilities.

Are you looking for some fun experiences and exciting activities to enjoy with the family this winter? Well, then you’re in for a treat. Birmingham is packed full of countless possibilities during the colder months of the year with experiences suitable for all ages. You might think that once the festive season ends, the city hibernates.

However, nothing could be further from the truth. So wrap up warm and come explore some of the incredible possibilities that Birmingham has to offer for everyone this season.

Explore The Bullring

You might want to start your adventure by exploring the Bullring. This is one of the key landmarks of Birmingham and you’ll find all your favourite shops and brands inside. Some delightful restaurants are also sure to tantalise your taste buds in between the shopping trips. This is a popular choice through the winter months because it will allow you to escape the winds blowing through the city. Some of the shops available to explore include H&M, Lacoste, Foot Locker as well as countless others. You can easily spend an entire day wandering around the Bullring and never get bored. But you might max out at least a couple of credit cards.

Take a Trip to The Science Museum

If you’re looking for an option that is both fun and educational for the kids, then we recommend booking a visit to the Thinktank Science Museum this winter. Since opening in 2001, the museum has been a hit with kids of all ages due largely to its fun approach to science. There are lots of incredible areas to explore including the Spitfire Gallery. This is home to examples of real-life fighter planes. If that’s not enough there’s also a planetarium that provides an immersive view of the stars up above.

Bear Grylls Adventure

Plenty of outdoor activities close for the winter, but you’ll be pleased to hear that The Bear Grylls Adventure remains open. It’s great for both adults and kids with lots of activities to try. There’s archery, escape rooms, shooting, diving and even a Royal Marines inspired assault course.

It’s possible to book individual activities. Or, if it all sounds like a fantastic thrill ride, you can purchase a multi-pass ticket. This will allow you to spend a whole day exploring the different activities with the rest of your family. Do note that some including shooting and diving are age-restricted for 8+ and 10+ respectively.

Visit The Hippodrome

Finally the Hippodrome is the UK’s busiest theatre. Every year, 600,000 people walk through the doors of this beautiful building. Countless performances take place annually. However, through the winter months, you and the rest of your family can enjoy a range of pantomimes. Alternatively, you can explore some of the other shows that are available through the winter months too.
